Night is Short, Walk on Girl Extras
There are so many fun little things in this movie! Like, y’all HAD to have caught the Spirited Away reference, right? Well lemme tell you there were so much more.
Yes, Denki-bran is real as I mentioned before. Along with that, the book Ratatam is real! It’s a French book about a train, and I think it’s reminiscent of the Little Engine that Could? Don’t quote me on that, I’m not sure and I’m too hungry to look it up. My bloo- food is defrosting right now.
What else… Ah, the friendly punch! Yeah, don’t punch like that. The book goes into more detail on how it’s friendly because the thumb is in the middle and therefore like. Not as aggressive? But girl, I don’t care how sweetly you punch someone, if your thumb is in the middle of your fist, it will break.
The illustrator for the novel’s cover is Yusuke Nakamura. He is the film’s character designer, and he created the album art illustrations for the band Asian Kung Fu Generation. Along with this, Asian Kung Fu Generation’s song “Kouya wo Aruke” plays during the end credits. Everything is connected.
At the end of it all, I have two questions …
1. If senpai doesn’t like books, then why is his room full of them? Are they all textbooks for school? Or was it all a phase, was he lying when he was going around the festival? and 2. The three guys are sitting at the same table at the wedding. Don Underwear and the Director of School Festivals are both friends with Senpai. So how did the director not know he was the one Don was wearing the same underwear for? Had he really never heard the story? The one thing I can come up with for that is maybe they never really interact and are only friends with Senpai, not each other.
Alright, that’s all folks.
